ROAS and Ekandustria Operations
The Gauteng environmental authorities conducted
several visits to the Ekandustria Operations’ new
magazine construction site with no findings raised and
no enforcement action taken. The construction has
been completed.
Incidents at Sasol’s Regional Operating and Asset
Services (ROAS) Operations include third-party
damage to a pipeline during municipal excavations
(with the emergency pipeline replacement
subsequently completed), and an illegal third-party
excavation associated with fuel theft.
A clean-up was initiated and monitoring is ongoing
to confirm the efficacy of the remedial action. These
were all reported to the DFFE in terms of Section 30
of NEMA.
At Ekandustria, a third-party diesel spill incident
occurred with associated soil impacts. The DFFE
conducted a site visit to assess the implementation of
remedial action. Monitoring is ongoing.
On 3 September 2025, the DFFE conducted a
waste performance assessment. Required actions for
continuous improvement, some of which have already
been implemented, include optimised waste separation
at source, further assessments on the beneficial use
of ash and improved labelling of waste storage areas
and containers.
Other regulatory site visits occurred to confirm the
close out of remedial actions related to previously
reported Section 30 NEMA incidents and other
authorisation-related follow-ups. No findings were
raised and no enforcement action followed.

Mozambique Operations
Two gas pipeline leaks on the Springs to Sasolburg
Transmission Pipeline occurred, which were reported
to the applicable authorities. Subsequent repairs and
remedial actions were undertaken.
In February 2026, the environmental declarations
for the Mozambique CPF Operations, pipeline
operations and the Nhamacunda complex were
received. The declarations replace the environmental
licences and are valid for five years.
An integrated inspection was conducted by the
National Petroleum Institute as part of the operation
licence for the PSA Integrated Processing Facility
and all the identified findings were addressed
through a corrective action plan. Additional
outstanding findings have also been addressed and
are pending validation from authorities in order for
them to be fully closed out.
Reported matters included recurring produced-water
leaks, effluent overflow from a laundry lint trap, and a
sewage overflow at the Central Processing Facility
(CPF) plant. The incinerator remained offline due to
commissioning impacts linked to a faulty hydraulic
cylinder. Ambient vapour monitoring detected only
trace methane at selected points within a fenced
well area and no detected hydrogen sulphide in the
targeted positions.
No enforcement measures were taken.
