Product stewardship
Sasol’s approach to product stewardship ensures safe chemicals management across the product lifecycle while
delivering societal and environmental value. This is achieved by:
COMMITMENT
Sasol is committed to ensuring safe chemicals
management through continuously mitigating
and improving the Safety, Health and
Environment (SHE) impacts of its products.
This is done while actively managing safety
and security across the product lifecycle, in
collaboration with suppliers, customers and
other stakeholders.
Sasol’s product quality management processes
ensure products meet customer and performance
requirements, while complementing Product
Stewardship’s SHE commitment.

PROGRAMMES AND PERFORMANCE
PARAFOL 10 RSPO MB:
A safer and renewable
solution for cyclomethicones
in cosmetic products
From June 2027, the European
Union will restrict the use of two
widely used cyclic volatile silicone oils,
including cyclopentasiloxane (D5) and
cyclohexasiloxane (D6), in leave on
cosmetic products above 0,1%, due to
their classification as very persistent
and very bioaccumulative (vPvB)
substances. In response, Sasol’s
PARAFOL 10 RSPO MB (high purity
decane) offers a readily biodegradable
alternative with a comparable,
and in some applications, superior
performance profile. Additionally, it
enables a renewable solution through
mass balance certification.
As the regulatory deadline
approaches, more customers are
proactively replacing cyclomethicones
with PARAFOL 10 RSPO MB,
increasingly selecting it ahead
of synthetic isoalkanes to meet
both regulatory and sustainability
objectives.

SASOL INTEGRATED REPORT 2026
Strengthened product defence
Sasol strengthened its product defence
framework by improving the quality and
robustness of product documentation.
This included ensuring fuel Safety Data
Sheets were supported by accurate,
traceable chemical and physical property
data through detailed characterisation and
evidence-based Chemical Abstract Services
(CAS) selection. This approach strengthened
product identification and classification,
improved hazard communication, and
supported effective risk management across
the value chain.
Sasol’s International Sustainability
and Carbon Certification (ISCC)
PLUS certifications
The ISCC PLUS certification promotes
environmentally, socially and economically
sustainable production. Four of Sasol’s
Eurasian sites (Brunsbüttel, Marl, Augusta,
and Terranova) and the Natref refinery
maintain ISCC PLUS certification to enable
the use of bio-based and circular feedstocks
on a mass balance basis to replace fossilbased feedstocks.

Sasol adheres to various
environmental and safety
frameworks:
Registration, Evaluation,
Authorisation and Restriction of
Chemicals (REACH) Compliance:
Sasol has two substances (occurring
as impurities) listed on the European
Union’s REACH Substances of Very
High Concern (SVHC) candidate list
and no products on the authorisation
list. This position remains unchanged
from FY25.
Montreal Protocol and Stockholm
Convention: Sasol’s value chain
avoids materials listed in these
multilateral environmental agreements.
Basel Convention: Sasol exports
spent catalysts with precious
metals for recovery, reducing the
need for mining and promoting a
circular economy.
International Cyanide Management
Code: One Sasol product is
certified under this voluntary code.
This position remains unchanged
from FY25.
