COMMITMENT
Sasol’s Enterprise and Supplier Development
(ESD) agenda is focused on building a
transformed, resilient, and competitive supplier
and enterprise ecosystem that contributes
meaningfully to South Africa’s social and economic
advancement. This commitment is anchored in
Sasol’s Transformation Strategy, ESD Policy, and
partnership-for-growth philosophy.
Central to this approach is recognising that ESD
investments must drive multi-dimensional value,
integrate operational efficiency and inclusive
stakeholder participation, while strengthening
local value chains through purposeful partnerships
that enable sustainable socio-economic impact.
GROUP
APPROACH
Sasol strives to deliver maximum shared value for
the organisation and its stakeholders by fostering
resilient, sustainable, and mutually beneficial
relationships. This commitment is realised through
targeted funding and development interventions
that strengthen small and emerging businesses,
enabling their meaningful participation within Sasol’s
supply chain and beyond.
Sasol actively drives localisation and economic
transformation across its supplier base, creating
inclusive opportunities for small enterprises in local
communities. By integrating sustainability, market
diversification, and capability development into its
programmes, Sasol ensures that its enterprise and
supplier ecosystem is not only competitive and
transformed, but also future-ready to thrive in the
green economy and broader markets.
PROGRAMMES AND PERFORMANCE
Sasol’s development focus
In FY26, value was delivered through a structured portfolio of programmes designed to strengthen SME capability,
expand market access, and build a resilient and competitive supplier ecosystem.
• Gender-Equity Programmes:
• Sector-specific programmes:
Supporting SMEs across priority value chains through the
Transporter Development Programmes which supports the
growth of logistics SMEs through asset funding and technical
support, and the Franchise Development Programme which
supports inclusive market entry into the fuel retail value chain
• Local Economic Development Programmes:
Driving inclusive growth by redirecting procurement spend
to SMEs across Alrode, Ekandustria, Nelspruit, Komatipoort,
KwaZulu-Natal, Sasolburg, and Secunda; strengthening quality,
safety, and operational performance through targeted supplier
development support. Delivery was enabled through the
Growth Engine SME Governance and Compliance Programme,
which strengthens governance frameworks, financial, and risk
management discipline, as well as the production of credible
financial information, positioning SMEs for procurement
readiness, access to funding, and sustainable growth
• Financial Support and Inclusion support:
Supporting SMEs across all programmes through targeted
financial capability interventions, including SAICA led Financial
Excellence Development, and sector specific costing, pricing,
and financial modelling training. This is complemented by
structured post investment support for funded entities,
strengthening financial discipline, and business compliance to
support them in meeting their loan obligations

Strengthening technical capability and enabling greater
participation of women-owned enterprises in engineering and
mining value chains through Sasol’s Women in Engineering and
Women in Mining Incubator Programmes
• Sustainability and Green Economy Support:
Advancing SME participation through targeted interventions
that enhance resilience, reduce costs, and enable sustainable
growth. The Sasol Siyakha Solar Energy Support Programme
delivered tailored solar solutions, lowering energy costs,
improving operational stability, and unlocking cash flow
for reinvestment. In addition, the Circular Economy Lab,
launched during this period, enables SME participation in
emerging circular value chains and supporting the shift towards
more resource-efficient and sustainable business models
